IMAGE AND FORUM THEATRE
Exploration of various Image Theatre techniques, leading to the creation of original Forum Theatre pieces embracing topics identified by the participants. Each will be invited to become a Spect-actor and will be afforded a chance to delve into social issues close to their hearts and debate them with action!
Image Theatre – is a Theatre of The Oppressed technique which engages the participants in a series of wordless exercises through which they create embodiments of their feelings and experiences.
Forum Theatre – is a Theatre of The Oppressed technique that begins with the enactment of a scene where the protagonist tries, unsuccessfully, to overcome a problem inherent to the audience. The audience or ‘spect-actors’ are invited to replay the scene, as often as is required, and to explore solutions for the problem. This results in a dialogue about the oppression, an examination of alternatives and a ‘rehearsal’ for real life situations.
